A Healthy Morning Ritual
I know that waking up in the morning is a difficult thing to do. It is not easy to get up instantly, and most of you might tend to snooze the alarm for 10-15 minutes of extra sleep. I am here to help you productively utilize those extra minutes. Instead of snoozing your alarm for some extra sleep time, you can use those minutes for yourself in a much better and fruitful way.
I believe that it is fundamentally important to give yourself some time. A few minutes of quality time to yourself is vital for your overall wellbeing. Therefore, I recommend everyone to dedicate some time to themselves daily. There was a time when I also had struggling mornings. Being a working lady, I always found myself lagging behind. Many times I got late to my workplace because of this alarm snoozing habit. But now, things have changed, and I have learned a secret to making things better.
If you also want to make the most out of your day and live an active and healthy life, you must spend some time with yourself. What can be a better time to meet yourself other than the start of the day? I am sharing a practical morning ritual with you which will take only 15 minutes. Make sure you integrate this in your daily routine.
Firstly, make sure you go to bed in time so that you can wake up active and fresh. When your alarm bells the first time, make sure you don’t o for a snooze. Instead, wake up and be ready for some effective practices. I dedicate 15 minutes in total for this ritual. Think of it as your check-in time.
The first 5 minutes of the morning should be spent in connecting with your body. For instance, stretching is the best thing that you can do to get rid of drowsiness. Stretch your arms and feet and take some deep breaths. It is even better if you can do so in the fresh air. Stretching your body and taking a couple of deep breaths will make you feel refreshed from the inside out.
Some people suggest going for a walk or jogging after coming out of the bed. But I personally feel that some stretches and deep breaths are more impactful in connecting my mind and soul.
Focus on loving yourself
I spare the next minutes in making myself feel loved and valued. I stand in front of a mirror, embrace myself and say out loud that ‘What do I need today?’ More me time? More time with friends? More mindfulness? I also like to place post-it-notes in my bathroom that are filled with affirmations that will instill positivity in me for the rest of the day. You should also give it a try! A few minutes with yourself alone in the morning will make you feel revitalized.
Clean Up Your Place
I spend the last 5 minutes in clearing the mess in my surroundings. Before getting dressed up for work, I always clean up my place so that I don’t found any mess around when I come back home after a long day. It takes only 5 minutes to tidy up the place. Make your bed and clear the kitchen counter. This quick cleaning will prepare your mind and body for an energetic day ahead.
After turning the alarm off, stretching your body and making deep breaths will make you feel energized. Besides, when you look at yourself in the mirror and read your affirmations, these moments of self-reflection will help you to value your life more. Lastly cleaning up the place will provide you peace of mind.
